Three Modern CHRISTmas Songs I Love

In place of  a Lord’s Day Scriptures post this week, I want to share three Christmas songs that mean a lot to me and really help me remember what Christmas is all about! “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him” sums it up real well! :>

I’m a gigantic Point of Grace fan, and these three songs of theirs are must-hear songs every year for me. and you’ll see why!

Take a listen:

“For all the broken,

here in this moment,

Immanuel, our God is with us.

He is with us still.

Immanuel, He has not left us.

And He never will.”

“So he held her and he prayed
Shafts of moonlight on his face
For the baby in her womb
He was the Maker of the moon
He was the Author of the faith
That could make the mountains move

It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love

“So close your eyes and share the dream

Let everyone on earth believe

The child was born, the stars shone bright

And love came down at Christmas time

And love came down at Christmas time

So merry Christmas everyone

And peace throughout the year

The time has come to celebrate

So let your voices fill the air.”

**Okay here’s one more I forgot about until it started running through my head!**

“I’m more than just only, one night that’s holy. I’m your Star, and I’m your Wish ’cause I am both the Giver AND the Gift!”

Don’t forget that Jesus Christ was born to be our Savior and deliver us from our sins. That’s what we are celebrating this time of year and we’re thankful for the love our Lord has for us, to provide a way out of death. The fun songs are, well…fun, but I can’t celebrate Christmas without taking the time to remember the reason for the celebration!

Wishing you all a Merry CHRISTmas!!

Lord’s Day Scriptures: Working For The Lord

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, rather than people.”  Colossians 3:23

This such a good reminder! It’s so easy to forget why we’re doing what we’re doing, and to seek glory from people. If we’re seeking glory from people, our actions will be actions and activities that please people. But if we’re seeking glory from our Lord, our actions and activities will be those that please Him.

It’s so much easier and more fun to follow other people, friends, family, the world. So much less risk in that. And so much superficial glory. But is superficial glory what we truly desire? God offers us His true glory, but we must seek after Him, His desires and His plan. We have to be willing to take the risks…like seeking out only Godly activities, even if our friends and family think we’re too strict, or ridiculous. It’s really God we’re seeking to please, not them. It’s REALLY hard to be the one who’s different.

But it also means  sharing the Truth of who Christ is, why He came and why we want them to surrender their lives to Him as well. Because, if we truly love our Lord, and love people, we will talk to them, no matter the glory, but because we don’t want them to perish.

I want to see my friends, family and anyone else with me and my Lord in heaven, on the New Earth for eternity…so I’ll seek to please God, and try not to care about pleasing people.

To God be the glory, forever and ever!!!

Lord’s Day Scriptures: Awesome Majesty

Where I’ve lived the past 10 years, we don’t really have autumn and I’m always on a search for bits of that favorite season of mine. Today I stumbled on a pretty reddish leaf, which led me to more leaves and a tree with even more, although it was still mostly green.

I was so excited, I wanted to shout with joy! Why aren’t there ever other people around at these moments? :>

I’m so thankful for God’s GOLDEN SPLENDOR and AWESOME MAJESTY, including what we see here on earth, and more importantly, God’s own!

I love the way my Lord surprises me in these little ways with perks I need so very much at those moments. One little leaf gave me such pure joy that I could hardly bear the joy of seeing the rest of them! That’s the special care of a God who loves me so much, and brings simple joy from His own amazing creation! Thank you Lord!

Here are my wonderful leaves in phone photos:

Lord’s Day Scripture: The God of All Comfort

Reading God’s words brings me such comfort…and joy…and hope. He promises so many times that He will always be here…for little ole me. That He loves me. And knows what is best for me. And not only knows, but gives me the best things for me. And that one day all of this suffering will end…AND I’ll be with Him FOREVER. Now THAT’S a promise!!   :>

So…I try to hold on. Even though it’s often a struggle. And I’d rather escape all of the trials and daily pain…physical and emotional. But, for now, I still have a job to do. To show others who Christ is, and that I need Him, but so do you. We all need Him. So, I’ll try to be patient And wait. Because the right time will come. And then I’ll rejoice, FOREVER.

So in the meantime Lord, thanks for all of that comfort You’re offering. Because I really need it!!

Have a great week!

Happy Resurrection Day!

Today we’re celebrating the greatest day in history, the resurrection of our Lord and Savior who took our wretched sins upon Himself that we might be saved!

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” ~Isaiah 53:5

Jesus Christ paid the debt He didn’t owe and a debt we couldn’t pay ourselves for our guilt. And I’m so thankful He loved me enough to do it! One day He’ll come again and what a day of rejoicing that will be!!

Here are some great ways to celebrate Resurrection Day over Easter:

Happy Resurrection Day Everyone!!

God Looks at the Heart

And I am certain that God who began the good work within you will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns ~ Philippians 1:6

Confession time: Even though I did the 31 Days Challenge in October and was hoping it would help get me back into the habit of daily spending time with God,  I was never really consistent, and then I slacked off even more with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Big Fat Fail! And this is too important for me to fail, especially in this day when even Christians are ignoring God’s words in favor of selfish desires. I must be more consistent! In my heart I still had the same desire, so I decided to start again with the new year, and really stick to it. Then a friend had them same idea decided to put together a Facebook group to help us all be accountable to each other. It’s only 10 days in, but so far, it’s been great and I haven’t missed a day! I’m on the road to building a habit! Oftentimes that is the biggest hurdle: building a habit, so I’m on my way! I’ll be checking in here periodically with my progress, another form of accountability for me. I know that God looks at the heart and knows our desires, but I also know that He desires obedience and a close relationship with each of His children who have chosen to follow Him. So I must do more than just strive to read and listen to His words, I must do it!

What are you tackling for the New Year?

31 Days of Heart and Home: Rejoice and be Glad

Psalm 118:21 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

I’m felling exhausted, but thankful today for the gift of friends and family. And I’m looking forward to a day off tomorrow, with cooler temperatures and even possible rain on the horizon!

I had a fun afternoon with my little 5 year old buddy friend with ballet and the merry-go-round at our little secret park. Then she buckled our little Irish dancing friend in for the trip home. So cute!!

AND…I’m so excited about the possibility of new projects on the horizon, and can’t wait to finish up others and begin new things!!!
